Description
A male connector is commonly referred to as a plug and has a solid pin for a center conductor. On the other hand, a female connector is commonly referred to as a jack and has a center conductor with a hole in it to accept the male pin. The terms male and female always refer to the threads on the fitting. The male threads are on the outside like a bolt and the female threads (female fittings) are on the inside like a nut. Male threads screw into female threads.
